How Many Skills Should You List on Your CV?

Tailor to the Job Requirements
The number of skills listed on your CV should align with the requirements in the job description. Your aim is to show that you possess all the skills, experiences, and qualifications needed for the role. This ensures your CV is tailored to the job and demonstrates your suitability.

Optimise the Key Skills Section
Include a "Key Skills" section directly beneath your profile or summary. This section helps optimise your CV for applicant tracking systems (ATS) by making it keyword-rich. Aim for two columns, listing between 12 and 16 skills in total, with around 6-8 skills per column.

Distribute Skills Throughout Your CV
In addition to the "Key Skills" section, make sure the required skills appear throughout your CV, especially in the "Career History" section. This reinforces your expertise and ensures your CV meets ATS and recruiter expectations.
